Cultivating Leadership: CR Induction Program at Agri Studio Farm

26 December 2024, 11:00 am

Pratik Subedi and Tisa Kasaju. On Wednesday, 4th December 2024, we had the privilege of being part of an enriching CR induction program as the CRs of section C. The program was organized at Agri Studio Farm, Thecho, with a motive to help us better understand our roles and responsibilities as a class representative. It was totally an informative and engaging day filled with learning and teamwork.

Our program started with training on emergency first aid. The session included insights on preventions, causes and immediate care of emergency health situations like burning, poisoning, bleeding, allergy, heart stroke, choking and many more along with treating wounds and fainting cases. We were able to know about the basics regarding immediate care that could possibly happen in the college premises. Our trainer also helped us by demonstrating how to properly perform CPR as well as how to give abdominal thrusts for choking. We raised questions regarding our confusions and received our answers. I found this session well organized and very informative as it is essential to learn how to handle medical emergencies which can be helpful to save lives.

Another important and the most exciting session of the program was scavenger picture hunt. We were divided into groups and given a list of tasks to be accomplished as a team. It required team collaboration, observation and exploration of the huge farm to complete the tasks. The task included taking pictures of plants, photos with domestic animals, videos of feeding them, stacking straw, ploughing fields and sowing seeds and likewise. Overall, the tasks helped us have a clear view as a day in the life of a farmer. For somebody who was born and raised in Kathmandu, it was pretty thrilling to perform such activities. This session helped everyone bond with each other as a group, improving teamwork while also ensuring recreational and enjoyable memorable moments.

One of the key components of the program was understanding our roles and duties as a CR. This session was insightful, offering a clear perspective on our responsibilities and how we can effectively contribute to the organization's objectives. It allowed us to truly feel like a part of the college and our responsibilities towards it. Overall, the program was a success that gave us an opportunity to increase our network and learn something new at the same time. We found the program a blend of learning, fun and recreation and dutiful. We'd love to be a part of such programs more often in the upcoming days.

The Westminster College recently hosted a CR Induction Day, with full participation from all the current Class Representatives (CRs). This reflection has been thoughtfully written by Pratik Subedi and Tisa Kasaju of Level 3, Section “C.”
