Blackboard is a Learning Management System system (LMS) application software used to deliver education/training courses. The University provides most of its learning and teaching resources through Blackboard. After you have enrolled, you will see your courses appear in this system. In the meantime, it is worth downloading the Blackboard mobile App.

Many cyber security positions operate within IT departments, therefore it’s advantageous to be familiar with a few programming languages. Our cyber security programs are also applied in nature, so you will be completing real exercises and will occasionally need to draw on your coding experience. We offer Python and Object Oriented Programming in C++ in your course.

A four-year bachelor's degree offers several advantages over a three-year degree:

  • Depth of Knowledge: Four-year programs typically provide students with a more in-depth understanding of their chosen field of study. They have more time to explore advanced topics, engage in research, and gain practical experience through internships or projects. This depth of knowledge can better prepare graduates for the demands of their chosen careers.

  • Broader Skill Development: With an additional year of study, students have the opportunity to develop a broader range of skills beyond their major subject area. They may take elective courses in complementary fields, develop communication and critical thinking skills, or participate in extracurricular activities that enhance their overall education and employability.

  • Specialization and Concentration: Longer programs often allow students to specialize or concentrate within their major field of study. They can choose from a wider range of elective courses or pursue minors or concentrations that align with their career goals and interests. This specialization can make graduates more competitive in the job market.

  • Preparation for Advanced Study: For students considering further education, such as graduate school or professional programs, a four-year bachelor's degree provides a stronger foundation. They have more time to build their academic credentials, undertake research projects, and secure strong letters of recommendation from faculty members.

  • Employability and Career Opportunities: Employers often value the additional skills and knowledge gained through a four-year degree. Graduates of longer programs may be seen as more well-rounded and capable of taking on complex roles within their chosen field. Additionally, some employers may specifically require a four-year degree for certain positions.

  • Global Recognition: In many countries, a four-year bachelor's degree is the standard for undergraduate education and is widely recognized by employers and educational institutions worldwide. Having a four-year degree may facilitate opportunities for international study, work, or collaboration.

While three-year bachelor's programs can be attractive for their shorter duration and potential cost savings, they may not provide the same level of depth, specialization, or preparation for advanced study as a four-year program. Ultimately, the choice between a three-year and four-year degree depends on individual goals, preferences, and career aspirations.
